3. What are the pull-out test results for the Durafirm bronze deck anchor?

Pull-out testing of our bronze anchor was done for Barrish, Aldrich & Schroeter Consulting Structural Engineers of Sacramento CA by Lowry Testing Laboratories. We quote the test report:

"As requested, we performed a pull-out load test on January 17, 1979 on one of three bronze anchor units embedded in a concrete slab constructed for this test at the subject project. This type of anchor unit is proposed for use in the diving tower footings.

"The anchor unit in the middle of the three was loaded to a pull-out load of 16,200 lbs when the 5/8" diameter mild steel bolt being used in the loading system failed. The reaction load was applied to the test slab at two points approximately 22 inches away from the anchor unit.

"Results showed the tested anchor unit and steel bolt withstood a 16,200 lb load with no apparent distress in the anchor or surrounding concrete. Under the circumstances, no further testing was performed on this or the other two anchor units."

The Durafim bronze deck anchor is our design and certainly our recommendation for facilities that are pouring new decks and installing our 1M and 3M stands, and for constructing pedestals or platforms for installation of our short stands. Our factory has these anchors in stock and is able to ship UPS ahead of the shipment of the stands to be installed.

We will ask you for information about the installation when bronze anchors are ordered so that we can provide you with a full-size paper layout for the positioning of the anchors. From the paper layout you will need to make a plywood template to set and level the anchors in your deck. (see anchor installation instructions for 1M, 3M, or short stand.)

Because the position of the fulcrum/main support is different, relative to the anchor/ladder assemblies for different lengths & models of our diving boards, we will need to know the length & model (Duraflex or Maxiflex) of the board to be installed.

To send a layout showing the anchor location points we will need to know the deck elevation above water level, rate and direction of deck slope ( example: 1/4" per foot/slopes away) and the board model to be installed on our 1M and 3M Stands.

For our short stands we recommend the bronze anchors without exception. Do not construct your pedestal or platform without first ordering our bronze anchors
